Karl Josefsson
Karl Josefsson, co-founder of SF Bay Development, is a versatile midfielder and defender from Stockholm, Sweden. He plays collegiate soccer at the University of San Francisco. Karl has experience at both the club and international levels, having played for Djurgårdens IF in Sweden from youth academy to U-21. Also representing Taiwan's national team for both youth and men competing in numerous competitions. Known for his great experience and passion for soccer, he combines his on-and-off field knowledge with his dedication to youth development at SF Bay Development.

Dereck Valentine
Dereck Valentine,co-founder at SF Bay Development, is a former NCAA Division 1 soccer player at the University of San Francisco. A former member of the Costa Rican National Team (2015-2019), Dereck earned a gold medal at the U16 Male Central American UNCAF Tournament in 2017 and was part of the CONCACAF U-15 Championship in Tampa, FL. His extensive experience fuels his passion for developing young athletes at SF Bay Development.

Ashley Massa
Ashley Massa is a former undergraduate student at the University of San Francisco. In December of 2024, Ashley graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. Ashley’s start at SF Bay Development has helped her gain insight and experience for her interest of video production, video editing, and marketing. Ashley continues to dedicate her skills and diverse perspectives to the growth of SF Bay Development.

Caleb Gordon
Caleb Gordon, a coach at SF Bay Development, is a talented defender from Murrieta, California. Standing 6 feet tall, Caleb currently plays collegiate soccer as a freshman at University of San Francisco, where he’s known for his athleticism and strong defensive skills. With a deep passion for the game and experience at a competitive level, Caleb brings his knowledge and enthusiasm to coaching young athletes, helping them develop both their technical abilities and love for soccer. His approachable style fosters a fun and motivating environment for kids.

Kaleb Afsari
Kaleb Afsari, a coach at SF Bay Development, is a skilled midfielder from Sacramento, California, and currently a sophomore at the University of San Francisco. As a freshman, he appeared in 14 matches, showing strong playmaking abilities. In high school, Kaleb earned All-League honors twice and led his team to a Delta League championship. Known for his tactical awareness and love for both math and science, Kaleb brings a balanced and enthusiastic approach to coaching, helping young players enhance their skills and love for the game.

Kian Jones
Kian Jones, a coach at SF Bay Development, is a dynamic midfielder from San Francisco, California. Currently a sophomore at the University of San Francisco, Kian has demonstrated his playmaking skills, recording both his first collegiate assist and goal during the 2023 season. A standout in high school, he was a 3-time All-WCAL Second Team selection and led his team to multiple championships. Known for his dedication both on and off the field, Kian brings his passion for soccer and tactical expertise to coaching, helping young athletes develop their skills.

Mason Dougherty
Coach Mason Dougherty brings a wealth of experience and passion to SF Bay Development. Standing at 5'11" and hailing from Seattle, Washington, Mason is a talented midfielder with a solid collegiate soccer background. A junior at the University of San Francisco, he has demonstrated his skills on the field, making notable contributions during his freshman and sophomore years. Mason’s high school career at Shorecrest High School was distinguished by All-Wesco First Team honors and participation in the ECNL national selection game. At SF Bay Development, Mason’s extensive playing experience and strategic understanding of the game make him an invaluable asset to our coaching team.

Brayden Beason
Originally from Keller, Texas, Coach Brayden Beason brings a dynamic offensive mindset and international experience to SF Bay Development. Standing tall at 6'2", he plays as a forward and is currently a freshman at University of San Francisco, where he's already made an impact in his first season, playing in 7 games, recording 7 shots, and netting 2 goals. Prior to college, he spent a year in Spain training with various professional teams, gaining invaluable experience abroad. Passionate about helping young athletes develop their skills, Coach Brayden is committed to guiding the next generation of players.

Joe Core
Coach Joe Core is a dedicated defender and graduate student from Arlington, Virginia, who brings both leadership and experience to SF Bay Development. Standing at 6'2", he has played collegiate soccer at William & Mary before continuing his athletic and academic journey. Known for his solid defensive skills, Coach Joe has appeared in multiple games at the collegiate level, adding strength and discipline to the backline. Off the field, he enjoys fantasy football, trying new foods, and spending time with family and friends. His favorite piece of advice, passed down from his dad, is to "make good decisions," and it's a principle he carries into his coaching to help guide young athletes both on and off the field.

Chris Maldonado
Chris Maldonado is a skilled forward from San Rafael, California, and a coach at SF Bay Development. Currently a sophomore at University of San Francisco, Chris was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team in 2023 after a strong collegiate debut, where he appeared in 16 games and recorded his first goal and assist. A standout at Terra Linda High School, he earned accolades such as First Team All-MCAL and Terra Linda Male Athlete of the Year while leading his team to multiple championships. Chris also plays for the Guatemalan national team and is passionate about helping young athletes from his home-ground, grow and succeed.

Olivia Lukrofka
Olivia, a talented midfielder from Portland, Oregon, brings energy and skill to SF Bay Development. Standing at 5'6", Olivia is currently a sophomore who had an impressive freshman season in 2023. She appeared in 15 games, scoring three goals and recording two assists, earning her a spot on the All-WCC Freshman Team. Known for her quick footwork and vision on the field, Olivia is passionate about helping young athletes develop their game, whether they're aiming for fun or high-level competition.

Elijah Cofer
Elijah Cofer is a seasoned defender currently playing for Academy of Art University, following collegiate stints at Azusa Pacific and San Francisco State. With experience at multiple NCAA programs, he has competed at a high level, contributing to several clean sheets and demonstrating strong defensive skills. His journey across different teams has given him valuable insight into the game, making him a knowledgeable and adaptable coach. Originally from La Puente, California, Elijah is a Communications & Media Technologies major. His passion for the game, combined with his diverse playing experience, allows him to bring a well-rounded perspective to SF Bay Development’s coaching staff.

William Krause
William Krause is a talented goalkeeper currently playing for the University of San Francisco. In his sophomore season, he made his mark by starting four games, playing every minute, and securing a 3-0-1 record while making seven saves. Prior to USF, he developed his skills with Real Colorado MLS Next, gaining valuable experience at an elite youth level. William brings a wealth of knowledge to SF Bay Development, especially in goalkeeping techniques, game preparation, and mental toughness. His dedication to excellence on and off the field makes him a valuable addition to the coaching staff.

Tommy Huang
Tommy Huang joins SF Bay Development as a fresh addition to our coaching team, bringing his experience as a defender with Barca Residency Academy in Arizona. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Tommy played as a center back for the U19 squad, honing his skills in a competitive environment. A recent graduate of Arizona State University's 2024 preparatory class, Tommy is passionate about soccer and player development. He is currently pursuing an Advertising major and is excited to share his experience and knowledge with aspiring athletes. With his international background and dedication to the game, Tommy is a great asset to our coaching staff.

Rayden Daijo
Rayden Daijo, a coach at SF Bay Development, is a dedicated defender from Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii. Over the past four years, Rayden has competed at the Division I level for the University of San Francisco men’s soccer team, where he is recognized for his hard work, athleticism, and strong defensive and creative playmaking. Now pursuing his Master’s in Sport Management at USF while continuing to play for the team, he brings both high-level playing experience and leadership to the field. With six years of coaching experience in both Hawaii and San Francisco, Rayden is passionate about helping nurture the next generation of soccer players. His approach focuses on building players’ technical ability while fostering a lasting love and passion for the game.

Alex Solomis
Alex Solomis a coach at sf bay development is a creative midfielder from Nicosia Cyprus. Standing at 5’11", he is currently a junior at the University of San Francisco. Known for his vision and understanding of the game he brings his traits on the field to his coaching and development of young athletes. Alex, played at Omonoia FC before joining USF, where he was a key player in the team’s achievement of winning the U19 Cypriot league and was promoted to the first team training sessions regularly.

Owen Benson
Owen Benson is a highly dedicated and passionate soccer player and aspiring coach, currently a Division I athlete at the University of San Francisco. Originally from Marin, California, Owen began his collegiate career at Saint Mary’s College of California before transferring to USF to continue competing at the highest level of NCAA Soccer. A 5'11" forward known for his work ethic, vision, and leadership on and off the field, Owen developed his game through international experience with Antonio Puerta CD in Sevilla, Spain, as well as with Marin FC during his youth career. His deep love for the game and commitment to continuous improvement fuel his growing passion for coaching and mentoring the next generation of players.

Teo Benedick is a versatile defender and midfielder from Geneva, Switzerland. He played collegiate soccer in the United States for Academy of Art University at the NCAA Division II level, and spent his entire club career with Etoile Carouge, competing at the elite level in Europe. Known for his tactical intelligence, composure on the ball, and ability to adapt across multiple positions, Teo brings both high-level playing experience and a deep passion for the game. He combines his on-field expertise with a commitment to sharing his knowledge, fostering growth and development in the next generation of players.

Lucas Tager
Lucas Tager, a coach at SF Bay Development, is a former Division 1 midfielder from UC San Diego. Lucas enjoys working on the details of the game, polishing technique and building instincts through intentional repetition. With a youth National title and a Dallas Cup title under his belt, Lucas brings a winning mentality to his sessions and loves to connect with like minded players looking to reach the next level.

Melody Fathi
Melody Fathi is a former competitive player for Danville Mustang Soccer Club, the #1 girls club in Northern California and #2 nationally. She played as a striker and center mid, and has over 8 years of experience coaching competitive travel teams and private training. Melody has a Kinesiology degree from the University of San Francisco. She focuses on technical development, game IQ, speed, stamina building, and injury prevention as core parts of her coaching approach.

Camille Lavallee
Originally from San Diego, Camille joins SF Bay Development as a former club player for LA Galaxy San Diego. She spent several seasons developing leadership as captain and was a consistent playmaker in her position as a center midfielder. By ensuring foundational skill development, Camille sets her players up to perform at their highest level. By doing this, she hopes that the players she mentors can develop the same passion and drive that she has for the game. Camille is currently applying her love of soccer and sport through her work in her final semester of her Master’s in Exercise Physiology at SF State.
